I've just finished this book, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, and
although maybe not a literary masterpiece, it did make think. It’s about a writer
in New York City who spent a year trying to become a happier person and the
things she did in order to do so. Most of the things she tried to do were little things, like give proofs of love, make time for what you enjoy doing, let things go etc etc. It made me realise that it’s the simple
things that make a difference in life, and something that you
may think of as a negative, can actually be a positive. I'm going to try to exercise regularly not just when I feel like it, send birthday cards not birthday texts, and hoover the inside of my car not just write it on a to do list. It's not a self help book, which are really not my kind of thing, it's more a record of her project, and I definitely recommend it. It's made me re-evaluate a few
things and I'm going to get my act together! Don't hold your breath over how
long this will last but I’ll let you know how it goes…
