At heart I am a bit of a geek and the Harry Potter studio tour is something I've wanted to do for a while. So my friend Kerry and I set off on a road trip down to Watford and spent a magical few hours at Hogwarts. I know this is a bit photo heavy but there was so much to see- it is unbelievable how many props, costumes and sets there are to create the wizarding world, and I've put them in the order in which we saw everything.
I had literally never been so excited in my life. After a short film about the making of the films, the screen lifted up and we saw the entrance to the Great Hall. Inside the tables were laid out like they are in the films, with the costumes of both the professors and the students.
We could see the sets for so many different rooms- the boys dormitory, the Potions lab, Dumbledore's office, the Weasley's house, Hagrid's house...
My favourite bit was Diagon Alley. We saw all the amazing shopfronts, which Harry, Ron and Hermione visited, and it looked so magical...
Finally we saw thousands of wand boxes stacked into shelves. Each had a name on, of people we presumed were involved in the films- by chance I spotted Ralph Fiennes, who of course played You Know Who.
In conclusion, it was absolutely amazing! I grew up reading the Harry Potter books, and have always loved set design, costumes and behind the scenes stuff so this was right up my street. If you get the chance to go I would definitely recommend it, there is so much detail involved in everything it is unbelievable.
