Today I went to the North West Fashion Boot Camp for M&S. I'm sure everyone's aware of their well publicised fall from grace in the past few years, and this is part of the process of 'fixing' M&S, in particular womenswear. So we spent the morning in Manchester, surrounded by very enthusiastic managers, decked out in camouflage and armed with whistles, where we were updated on the major changes we will start to see in store. This includes changes to the product quality, with better attention to detail and finishes, as well as increased awareness of ethics and the environment. The store layout will change, with more of the products
compartmentalised, so you wont see a sea of linen trousers, but rather more combining and outfit building, and the brands have been re-defined. In theory, all the problems resolved.
However the major difference was the amazing designs which we are already starting to see arrive in our store. Everything already looks more sophisticated and of a much better quality, so hopefully from the end of the month, M&S will be back in the game, and restored to their former glory as a leader on the high street.
